Karangasem Palace - Bali After the Karangasem Grand Palace was opened as a tourist object, the inheritor of Great Palace of Karangasem, Anak Agung Bagus Ngurah Agung now renovates and rearranges his palace. Opened for the hub of arts, cultural and spiritual development activities, the palace which is nestled in the heart of city, is expected to be capable of drawing local and international visitors. Ngurah Agung adds that pertaining to the Tumpek Landep feast day (28/4) his party undertakes purification on the household appliances made from metal or iron, including the kris daggers heirloom belonging to the Great Palace. It is graced with the exhibition of kris dagger, gemstone, orchid and adenium taking place for a week.
The Puri Gede building, other than having hundreds of krises collection inherited from the era of Karangasem kingdom, also has household appliances as the relics from the same era. There are also the most complete collections of palm-leaf manuscript of hundreds in number retained in the Southern Palace, south of the Great Palace. Great Palace constitutes the extension of Southern Palace when the Southern Palace lacked of space, the king of Karangasem approximately in the eighteenth century founded the Great Palace. Then, it develops into the establishment of Eastern Palace or Grand Palace. This later became the royal palace of the last king of Karangasem, AAAA Ketut Karangasem. By the opening of Great Palace for community activities, particularly that for the art, culture and spiritual, it is expected that the palace regains its ancient function, namely being close to the community. Today, the Great Palace has been equipped with various kinds of gamelan instruments like angklung, gender, gong, drum and even there has been cakepung troupe consisting of the people living around the local palace. Other than this palace tourist object, Karangasem also has a number of tourist objects related to the relics of the palace or Karangasem kingdom namely the Soekasada Oejoeng Park and Tirtagangga Park.

Karangasem Grand Palace encompasses some areas. They are the innermost area where the family lives, the middle and outermost courtyard. In the middle courtyard lies the Petandakan pavilion that is frequently utilized for organizing a meeting of the family members, including seminar activities. Meanwhile, the outermost courtyard is completed with the Elephant Pavilion that currently is borrowed by the secretariat of the Bali Cultural Advisory and Education Assembly.
