Cuntaka (roughly translated as pollution),
which occurs in the macrocosm, generally is caused by uncontrolled
behaviors and cultimate in disaster.
These disasters will destroy the natural environment and result
in an immense loss to Man. Thus we as social beings, must
be responsible for keeping the rules that involves the safety
of our world.
Now,
these prompt us to ask what factors are likely to defile the
macrocosm (note: here we use microcosm to refer to Man’s
material and spiritual world). The answer lies in physical
and mental factors that related to Man’s own society.
Like, for instance in Bali, when we ask why close friends
and relatives of a recently deceased person e.g. cremation
ceremony, are forbidden to take place in any religious ceremony
or even visit any holy place.
To answer such question, one must be
aware that in Bali the logic is bed on the belief that death
is an unpure state and that “Cuntaka” has occurred.
